Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
When Chelsea smashed their own record transfer fee by signing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for £15 million they also equalled the British Record.
In Hasselbaink though it seems you are buying proven quality and regular goals. The former Leeds hit man scored around 20 goals in each of his 2 seasons at Leeds and then became one of the most in demand strikers in Europe as he banged in 34 goals for relegated Athletico Madrid.
Chelsea haven't had the best of luck in recent seasons buying strikers, Hasselbaink though broke that hoodoo. Scoring 26 times in his first season for Chelsea he became the first man to break the 20 goal barrier since Kerry Dixon a decade earlier.
His game is all about power and pace and fearsome shot. Possessing that selfish streak which all great goalscorers need, he isn't afraid to shoot and should gives Chelsea's front line some much needed sharpness.

Eidur Gudjohnsen
The young Icelandic star who played alongside Ronaldo at 17 had an interupted start to his career after a bad injury kept him out for a year as a teenager. His career at PSV was cut short but Bolton took a chance on him and he repaid them by becoming a star in the 1st Division, scoring over 20 goals and attracting the attention of plenty of top clubs.
Chelsea moved early in the summer of 2000 to snap up a player who wass still only 22. Yet his performance since have proved Chelsea have perhaps their hands on one of the best striking prospects in Europe. Already a huge crowd favourite and could be destined to become a Chelsea legend.
