John Terry John Terry- No. 26

A big strong centre half, not afraid to get stuck in. Only recently out of the youth team, but unusally won the Young Player of the Year award in his first year ahead of older members of the youth team.

Was really given his chance when Ranieri arrived and took it with both hands. His tough tackling made him an instant cult hero with the Chelsea fans and the fact he was young and English meant he became very popular very quickly.

Actually made his debut as long ago as 28/10/98 but only managed a couple of games under Vialli in the next few years. So has only had one full season in the first team but the potential could be huge. Being tipped as a future Chelsea captain, is already England U21 captain and looks on course for full International honours before long. Could be the best player to come out of Chelsea's youth system for decades!

Born 07/12/1980
Height 6'1
Signed March 1998 from Youth team
Chelsea debut 28/10/98 v Aston Villa (League Cup)

Graeme Le Saux GRAEME LE SAUX- No. 14
Graeme Le Saux left Chelsea under a cloud, he was messed around and became unsettled and unhappy in his first spell at the club, and when Blackburn came in with a good offer he was allowed to leave.

Four years down the line and £5 million (a club record at the time) both he and Chelsea admitted they made a mistake, Le Saux regrets throwing down his shirt in frustation and Chelsea admitted making a mistake in selling him.

But times change and Le Saux and Chelsea are very different beasts now, he has gone on to become the best left back in the country and Chelsea have re-emerged as a major force in English football - the perfect partnership.

In the seasons since his return he has bolstered the left sided area which has been a weak spot for Chelsea. A solid defender who can be very dangerous going forward and has the experience to match.

Born Jersey 17/10/68
Height 5'10"
Weight 76 kgs (12st).
Previous clubs St Pauls Jersey
Signed December 1987 on a free transfer and then for a second time for £5 million pounds in July 1997
Chelsea Debut Away to Portsmouth on: 13/5/89
Chelsea honours League Cup 1998, ECWC 1998, Super Cup 1998
